Paul was near the end of his life when he wrote the second epistle to Timothy. In this letter, Paul passes the torch to Timothy as a church leader and encourages him once again to be unashamed of the gospel, to stand firm against false teaching, and to appoint leaders to carry on the work of the church. Paul especially emphasizes the importance of the pastor’s work in preaching the Word of God.
